Things to do in Western Suburbs

The laid-back Henley Beach is a great place to relax and soak up the sunshine. Bask on the long stretch of golden sand and cool off in the calm, shallow water. Feeling hungry? Henley Beach boasts a burgeoning food scene featuring everything from modern Australian bistros and upmarket seafood restaurants to casual cafes and fish and chip shops.

Perfect for families, West Beach features soft sand and crystalline water. If you’re feeling adventurous, rent a stand-up paddleboard or sign up for a kiteboarding lesson. Refuel with lunch at one of the atmospheric beachside cafes. The western orientation treats you to spectacular sunsets.

A short stroll or tram ride from the CBD is Thebarton, a hip neighbourhood filled with artisan cafes, bakeries, breweries and boutiques. Many are housed in converted warehouses decorated with colourful murals. The beautifully restored Thebarton Theatre welcomes visitors with a handsome Art Deco façade and is one of the top cultural venues in Adelaide.

Set on the River Torrens, Bonython Park features grassy lawns shaded by silvery gum trees. Enjoy a picnic on the grassy foreshore and take a walk along the scenic trails. A water play area makes Bonython Park great for kids.
